At 42, these are some of the songs that take me back to the 70's and my childhood, and really make me feel good. To this day, I have a fond place in my heart for hippies.
At age 10 I was listening to Aerosmith on the radio. This live performance from 1977 below doesn't sound like the radio version. Looks/sounds like the entire band had a cold or something. They were just a little off. Yea, I am sure it was a cold virus.
It wasn't only hippies and stoned alcoholics that remind me of my childhood. Michael Jackson, the African American one, along with his brothers, conjures up good memories.
I don't know that I loved this song, but it totally takes me back. These guys seem less like dirty hippies and more like plain old flower children. I never understood the lyrics.
Then there are "slightly too old to be hippie" nerd hippies that make me think of the 70's.
Try and be sad while watching this next one. Can't be done. The happiest male lead singer of the 70's always takes me back. Again, never had a clue what the lyrics meant.
Folk singers (aka smart hippies) were not always my favorite. I didn't really like Jim Croce, but his songs are forever in my childhood. Here is one I wish I could forget.
I spent much of the 70's watching TV. In the 70's smart hippies infiltrated TV and made lots of money. I feel like I am 5 years old when I watch this.
Finally, the cool hippies. The Who. I could relate. I loved playing pinball and they made a song about it!
There are more, but I imagine those of you on this blog right now are so choked up with emotion and longing for the past, that I must show mercy and stop. Soon to come, clips from my favorite 70's TV shows and maybe even an 80's music reflection.
HOLY SMOKES, I almost forgot...I actually thought she honestly loved me.
